I rented a furnished apartment short term from these guys and had a great experience. They were very proactive and responsive when moving in to make sure the process was seamless (it was at a building with security and various overhead steps to move in, so it wasn't just handing us a couple keys). They had a very reasonable cleaning fee option, which we gladly took advantage of so we could just move our stuff out and leave the keys without worrying about the place being spotless.
You read about people complaining they left a place in good shape and still the property manager kept a significant portion of their deposit. Not these guys. We didn't do any damage, so they returned our full deposit. Phil and Sonia are honest and professional and I'll check their listings first if/when I'm in the Reno area again.
I owned a rental property in Reno and was told by the property management company they would no longer be managing the property. In a pinch, I found Phil Sunseri at Desert Diamonds Realty. Phil agreed to take over management of the property and put me in touch with plumbers and handymen that were able to make some much-needed repairs at a fraction of the cost I was being quoted by the previous management company. After the repairs were made, I decided to sell the property. Phil suggested a list price that was $25,000 higher than I felt the property would sell for. I decided to trust Phil. Sure enough, the property sold with eight offers and for over list price. By the way, this was during the September 2023 market – not the prior year when interest rates were still at an all-time low. My husband and I have been using Desert Diamonds Realty for 10 years now for buying, selling and managing our two condos in the downtown Reno area. They have expert knowledge in the downtown area and know every building in detail. They also handle the greater Reno area.
When there is a problem, Phil and his staff are right on it. They get units rented out within a month and all our tenants have always been very happy with them. When one tenant wanted to rent one of our condos if we would furnish it, Phil went to our storage unit and got the needed furniture and dishes, picked up extra items from Walmart and even programmed the cable TV. This is a small, very personal management company. I am an out of state owner of a few rentals. Phil and his team managed contractors and repairs at the property, changes in renters, and collecting late payments.
I will say it is important to keep good records. There were occasional discrepancies in billing, but when pointed out, they were quick to fix them. No Pushback.
I like to talk and interact with a real person who has a historical relationship with me. DDR provides personal support and the team is easy to work with. You talk to real people who know your history. You do not have to explain an issue over and over. They are very responsive to email and phone calls.
